More than just a haircut

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Sam Irons, 27th Comptroller Squadron, checks his new look after a haircut Monday. After retiring from the Air Force two years ago, Mr. Irons grew his hair for a special cause — Locks of Love. Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Mr. Irons has lost close relatives to cancer, which led him to participate in the program. He said that while his hair conditioner bill will go down for a while, he plans to let it grow long again. “I’ll probably start again this fall when it starts growing out,” he said, ready to start again — all in the name of love.
