|BRIGADIER GENERAL ALBERT M. "BUCK" ELTON II|
Brigadier General Albert M. "Buck" Elton II is the commander of the 27th Special Operations Wing, Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. He is responsible for preparing Air Force Special Operations Forces to support and execute joint special operations missions worldwide. The 27 SOW has over 4,500 Air Commandos and is equipped with a variety of specialized aircraft, including the AC-130W, MC-130J Commando II, AC-130H Spectre gunship, MQ-1B Predator, MQ-9 Reaper, CV-22B Osprey, PC-12 Pilatus, and M-28 Skytruck. These aircraft execute specialized mobility, precision strike, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in support of special operations forces.
Born in Fort Rucker, Ala., Brigadier General Elton was commissioned in 1989 upon graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy and was awarded his wings through Undergraduate Pilot Training at Reese AFB, Texas. He has commanded special operations forces at the squadron and group and twice at the expeditionary group level and has staff positions within Air Force Special Operations Command and United States Special Operations Command. .
