12/18/2012 - CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Some very holiday-spirited Air Commandos with the 27th Special Operations Wing gathered to wrap gifts donated through this year's Angel Tree program in the Thrift Shop at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., Dec. 18.
More than 300 gifts were provided from generous members of the wing to ensure that every child within the Cannon community has presents under their tree this year.
The Angel Tree program kicked-off Nov. 21, 2012 and took its final donations Dec. 17.
"This entire concept is awesome," said Airman 1st Class Kayla Brennan, 522nd Special Operations Squadron aviation resource management. "Getting involved in initiatives like this really makes you feel like you're making a difference in someone's life in a very significant way."
The program collected items for children ranging from newborn to 16 years of age. Program managers wanted to extend their deepest gratitude for the generous contributions that made this year so successful.
"It's always great to lend a hand and help those in need - even when you don't know who's receiving the aide," said Airman Ryan Vaughan, 27th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal. "You never know when you might need that hand in return. Seeing so many people get involved to help is encouraging and shows what a close community we really are at Cannon."
