A Federal Employment seminar from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on July 26 at the Airman and Family Resource Center provides valuable information on applying for federal jobs. For those tackling a resume, the Resume Basics class on from 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 2 at the center helps present skills to employers Individual appointments are also available for job search information.

Everybody into the pool
The Hearts Apart Pool Party for families of deployed and remote members will be from noon to 2 p.m. on July 28.

Smooth Move reduces the stress
Smooth Move from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on July 31 at the Airman and Family Resources Center brings in experts who will help make you Permanent Change of Station move more stress free. Learn about benefits and entitlements to make this move as easy as possible! Both spouses should attend. Call 784-4228
The Veterans Administration Benefits Seminar is from 1 to 4 p.m. on July 31 at the Airman and Family Resource Center. The seminar acquaints separating and retiring members with the services available through the VA and helps with the application process for applying benefits. In addition, there are mandatory briefings for Airmen separating or retiring.

Fix your pet
A spay and neutering program in Clovis on July 25-27 provides free spaying or neutering for pets for people meeting certain criteria. The criteria includes receiving assistance through one of several government programs including programs such as WIC, food stamps, Medicaid, Unemployment Insurance. Appointments are booking fast. Call 769-3430.
As many as six volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those days to move pets to and from the kennels.

A helping hand
Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 28 to sell raffle tickets to benefit the program. The event will be at the True Value Hardware store on "D" Street in Portales from 0800 in two-hour two hour shifts.

HealthCare Council meets
The Community Healthcare Council meets at 4 p.m. on August 8 at The Landing.
All 27th Medical Group beneficiaries are invited to attend. The Community Healthcare Council is a forum for the 27th Medical Group to interact with beneficiaries and provide information on medical services, medical group events and the latest health benefit information, along with a forum for feedback to the 27th Medical Group.
School and sports physicals
The 27th Medical Group will conduct school and sports physicals from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 11 Students and sports participants can register by calling Central Appointments at 784-2778 or 1-888-544-2778.

Airmen considering separating or retiring within the next year must attend pre-separation counseling at the Airman and Family Readiness Center before attending the Transition Assistance Program Seminar (TAPS).

Just say no to bug zappers
In accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 4150.7, DoD Pest Management Program, outdoor electronic pest control equipment and insect surveillance devices are not authorized for use by anyone other than trained personnel in Military Family Housing. These items include but are not limited to bug zappers, propane operated mosquito traps and ultrasonic repellents.
