Sweating the small stuff, enforcing standards
AFI 36-2903 3.1.3 states that women’s hair will not extend below any side of an invisible line drawn parallel to the ground at the bottom edge of the shirt collar, regardless of length and will not prevent proper wear of headgear, including a helmet or chemical mask. When hair is in a ponytail, it must be pulled all the way through the elastic band and may hang naturally downward and not extending below the bottom of the collar, except while in the physical training uniform. As with all hairstyles, a neat and professional image is essential. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Eboni Reece)
