Chief Master Sergeant SHAWN M. AIELLO

CMSgt. Shawn M. Aiello is the Command Chief, 27th Special Operations Wing, Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. Chief Aiello is the senior enlisted advisor to the Commander on all aspects of employment, training, readiness, resilience, and development of the force. The wing is organized into four groups, 24 squadrons, eight tenant units, is equipped with 107 specialized aircraft and sustains a premier installation that supports operations, training, and the base's 5,700 Air Commandos and their families. The Air Commandos of the 27th SOW execute specialized airpower for operational commanders conducting special operations missions around the world, including direct action, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, personnel recovery, psychological operations, and information operations. The 27th SOW Air Commandos are ready, relevant and resilient to provide our nation specialized airpower, capable across the spectrum of conflict…any place, anytime, anywhere.

CMSgt Aiello entered the Air Force in 1992. After completing basic training he qualified as a Munitions Systems Specialist and received orders to Sembach Air Base, Germany. He served in munitions assignments around the globe until 2002, when he cross-trained into intelligence. As intelligence professional, CMSgt. Aiello has served in Republic of Korea, US Air Forces Europe, Joint Special Operations Command and Air Force Special Operations Command. Additionally, he has served in multiple deployed joint Senior Enlisted Advisor roles in Joint Task Forces. Prior to 27th SOW assignment, he served as the Superintendent, HQ USSOCOM, MacDill AFB Florida.
