Base Support

The organization will support official wing-level events (award banquets, ceremonies, formal dinings, etc.) provided that:
  • The AADD recieves notification of the event (minimum 30 days prior)
  • If AADD volunteers are asked to be at the scheduled event from start to finish, they are to be allowed to take part in the event at no additional cost to themselves or the organization

What is the AADD's Goal?

The AADD's goal is that every member of the Cannon community gets home safely every night. AADD hopes that when a person chooses to drink he or she has already planned for a designated driver or a ride home. Unfortunately, this doesn't always happen. If AADD's services prevent even a single DUI and keep an intoxicated driver off the road, then the program is a success.

What Is AADD?

Airmen Against Drunk Driving is an Airman-run organization at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., that assists Cannon military members, dependants and civilian employees who have been drinking or are with others who have been drinking to get home safely as a "last resort". With this service available, no one should ever drive drunk!

How Does It Work?

To use AADD, call 575-784-2233 when your initial plans fall through and you need a "last resort" ride home. The dispatcher on duty will try to find a standby driver in your area available to take you home. Whether you had too much to drink, you think your driver had too much to drink, or your designated driver plans failed, AADD just wants to get you home safely.

Is It Anonymous?

The AADD standby drivers do not wear uniforms. They may however ask for your name, age, supervisor, rank or, unit. Drivers will also require proof of identification before providing a ride (typically in the form of a Common Acess Card). The driver will pick you up as quickly as possible and take you home (dorm, base housing or off-base housing only).
 
The AADD program does not advocate underage persons drinking, nor does the Air Force. Because of legal liabilities, the transportation of intoxicated underage base personnel is prohibited!

Be a Volunteer

Anyone assigned to Cannon can volunteer for AADD - Air Commandos (enlisted and commissioned), civilians of all ranks and pay grades, spouses and dependants. Volunteers can donate as much or little time as their schedules permit, and there are no minimums. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the Cannon community.
