The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign for Cannon Air Force Base is underway Published April 10, 2017 By Capt. Jaqueline Camacho 27 Special Operations Wing Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. -- The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign for Cannon Air Force Base is underway from April 10 through May 19.This year’s theme, “Committed to Caring,” hopes to perpetuate the ongoing efforts of Airmen assisting Airmen through the Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Village, Air Force Enlisted Village, and General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.“The Air Force Assistance Fund is a fantastic, no-kidding way to directly help our Air Force and Air Commando families,” said Capt. Jacob Wiseman, 9th Special Operations Squadron. “The charities benefited by the Air Force Assistance Fund focus entirely on taking care of Air Force members and their families in their greatest times of need.”In 2015, the AFAF helped 361 Cannon Airmen and their families through $219,895 in assistance funds for everything from food, housing, and emergency travel to car repair and educational grants. That same year, Cannon Air Commandos helped raise $63,789 – those charitable donations directly aided members of the Air Force through services such as grants and loans. This year’s Cannon AFB campaign goal is to raise $72,965.Anyone is able to make donations to the AFAF by cash, check or money order. Active-duty service members and retired military personnel are also able to have funds donated via the payroll deduction program.Wiseman and other representatives encourage everyone to donate what they are able, reminding members that this directly promotes the wingman concept and benefits individuals at Cannon AFB.Please contact this year’s project managers Capt.
