Cannon Air Force base will host the 10th annual Emergency Medical Technician Rodeo August 7-11, 2017, here on base and at Melrose Air Force Range, N.M.

The two-day competition will test emergency response teams coming from numerous Air Force installations around the world as they perform lifesaving procedures during high-stress scenarios.

“We have 21 teams coming from different MAJCOMS and we’re excited to kick off this event,” said Tech Sgt. Latisha Ambroziak, 27th Special Operations Medical Operation Squadron medical technician and EMT Rodeo planner. “This is a medical readiness training exercise and we hope all of the teams benefit from the experience and gain critical knowledge.”

Medics who participate in the rodeo will garner 23 Continuing Education Units, approximately half of their annual requirements toward their national registry certification and EMT licensure.

“It’s exciting to have this year be the 10th consecutive year of the EMT Rodeo and I’m sure all the teams will enjoy it,” Ambroziak said.
