The 2012 Water Quality Report from Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., has been released and is posted on the base website.

Under the "Consumer Confidence Reporting Rule" of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act, community water systems must issue water quality information to the consuming public. The report gives specifics pertaining to the water's origin, what substances may be present, and the health risks water testing and treatment are designed to prevent.

As required by regulations, results published in 2013 are constructed from samples collected and analyzed in 2012.

Cannon utilizes groundwater from the Ogallala Aquifer. To ensure the water is safe and of good quality, it is tested regularly and disinfected with chlorine.

The report stated that in 2012, the water that Cannon AFB provided to the base met or surpassed all federal and state primary drinking water regulations.
