Flocks of volunteers wearing bright yellow t-shirts and carrying trash bags took to the streets for the annual Great American Clean Up in Clovis, N.M., April 6.

Teams spread across the city to gather as much trash as they could from eight in the morning until noon.

More than 150 Air Commandos from Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., volunteered to pick up litter alongside volunteers from the community. The 27th Special Operations Wing/Staff Agencies managed to gather the most trash, collecting a total of 228 bags. This is the most that any group has ever collected.

"It's great that we see military members out here picking up trash with us," said Claire Burroughes, assistant city manager, "It shows they care just as much about the community as we do."
