The 27th Special Operations Wing is expanding its reach through social media at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.

The wing is now utilizing the smart phone-enabled mobile application known as Instagram to highlight current news, features, events and Cannon's Air Commandos in an effort to better disseminate their critical Air Force Special Operations Command mission to a growing population.

Instagram is a fast, easy way to share photos to a wide audience. Photos are captured, uploaded through the application, filtered with lighting effects and then shared. Photos can have captions included and hash tags embedded to link related photos and make searching easier.

The application is free for users and can be downloaded one of two ways: through the App Store on Apple devices and from Google Play on Android devices.

Once the application is downloaded, Cannon members can search 27SOW to follow the wing. Once a user follows another person or agency, images posted will populate in a news feed similar to Facebook. Photos can then be liked and commented on.

Information and events pertaining to the wing can also be found on the official 27 SOW Facebook page and the MyMC2 mobile application.

If base personnel have any questions or concerns regarding the application, they can contact the Public Affairs office at 575-784-4131.
