Lose or gain, it's your choice

After an eventful season filled with decadent and delightful fatty foods, the holiday's aftermath has some at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., asking themselves, "am I the biggest loser?" The base Fitness Center is hosting the 2013 Biggest Loser competition, a 6 week weight loss challenge. Open to civilian and military members ages 16 and up, participants will receive prizes and giveaways throughout the program.

Important competition dates to remember include Jan. 2-4 initial team weight-ins, Jan. 7-15 competition kickoff, Feb. 18-25 final weight-ins and Feb. 25 final to determine winner. Each team and participant will have access to informational material including suggested workouts for weight loss and interactive team challenges where fitness staff members and participant teams collaborate on the track or in the gym to gain muscle memory and shed fatty mass.

The Biggest Loser competition will strictly abide by rules of engagement to fairly and justly determine the 2013 winner. Participants are required to have registered for the event Jan. 2-4. Every Tuesday and Thursday will be a predetermined Biggest Loser workout day and every other Friday will be team challenges. At the 6 week marker there will be a last-chance workout that will measure each participant's progress. Final awards will be given out Feb. 25 at 11:30 a.m.
