Cannon gets smart with MyMC2

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  The 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., is now available at the touch of a button through the My Military Communities mobile smart phone application.
 
The 27 SOW is the twenty-seventh military organization to join the application, providing Air Commandos stationed at Cannon the ability to stay informed with up to the minute events and notifications via smart phones and application-enabled devices.

The MyMC2 application essentially centralizes all of Cannon's community events, organizations and base services in each member's pocket.

The application can be downloaded one of two ways: through the App Store on Apple devices and from Google Play on Android devices.

Once the application is downloaded, 27 SOW members should select Cannon AFB as their default installation to begin populating and filtering upcoming events.

Phones will sync once daily by pulling upcoming events and information via linked Facebook pages. The application will automatically sync itself afterward if the base administrators change application settings.

The "home" tab of the application will display several upcoming events happening at Cannon. These events will automatically be removed from the home tab 30 minutes after the event begins. All events can be clicked to display more detailed information such as location and cost if applicable.

At the bottom of the application display screen, members will see two quick-call buttons for user convenience: The Airmen Against Drunk Driving and Security Forces. In the upper left side of the application display screen, members can click on Cannon AFB, NM and be taken to the installation's public website.

In the top right corner of the home page is a search box. Here, members can enter keywords to narrow searches of upcoming events. Hit the "done" button on the keyboard to initiate the search when done typing keywords.

The "calendar" tab allows browsers to search for events based on date. The timeline can be dragged from left to right for manual searches. Each event, when clicked, will display a popup with detailed information.

The "directory" tab provides a list of organizations included in the application. The base MyMC2 managers will regulate which organizations are available. Facebook and phone icons will appear based on what has been provided from each organization. Clicking on an organization will open a popup with more information about their services.

The "settings" tab will allow users to change installations, set application filters, re-sync, modify the number of displayed home tab events, and provide statistics and information about the app.
