The annual Turkey Trot is quickly approaching at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., Nov. 15.

The yearly free 5K will take place at Unity Park from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be hosted by the Fitness Center in conjunction with the Health and Wellness Center.

"The whole family is welcome to participate," said Rob Ewers, 27th Special Operations Force Support Squadron Fitness Center manager. "It is a race, but we like to think of it as a fun run complete with prizes."

People of all fitness levels are encouraged to come out and join the fun. The top winners will receive medals and the first 30 to cross the finish line will earn a free t-shirt. The top male and female to complete the race will receive a free turkey.

The event coincides with The Great American Smoke-out, a great day to kick the smoking habit. For information on base tobacco cessation programs, please contact the HAWC at 575-784-1004.
