It's that time of year once again. Air Commandos with the 27th Special Operations Wing are being given the opportunity to make a huge impact by pledging toward various charities through the Combined Federal Campaign at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.

The annual campaign will run Oct. 29 through Dec. 7 allowing base personnel plenty of time to contribute toward the wing's current goal of $162,000.

"As members of the 27 SOW, we take pride in our jobs and in the government we serve," said Col. Buck Elton, 27 SOW commander. "In the next six weeks, we will have the opportunity to reach beyond our job assignments and show our commitment to the communities in which we live and work."

"In the past 50 years, federal employees donated more than $7 billion to help people in need," he added. "Federal employees can help non-profit organizations throughout the state, the nation and international communities when they donate through CFC. As a federal employee you have the ability to choose which organization benefits from your contribution. Your donation will go to causes that matter to you."

The last Cannon CFC drive raised more than $173,000 with the 27th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron taking the lead for most funds collected.

"You will be given the opportunity to pledge, through payroll deduction, to a charity working on issues such as health, the environment, higher education, hunger, neighborhoods, social services and much more," Elton stated. "You will soon receive campaign information and a pledge card. I urge you to read the information literature and then make a payroll pledge. Payroll deduction will begin on your first paycheck in 2013. Please join me in supporting a charity that works on the issues that matter most to you. Together we can continue to make a difference."
