Air Commandos stationed with the 27th Special Operations Wing were recognized during the 23rd annual Cannon Appreciation Day, Aug. 10, at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.

The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce, Committee of Fifty, Military Affairs Committee and the Clovis Industrial Development Corporation came together to sponsor the event for members of the Cannon community.

"We host this event annually for our Air Commandos to show our support and appreciation for all they do to support our country," said Ernie Kos, Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce executive director. "We have received plenty of positive feedback from members within the community who really enjoy coming out to this particular event to meet and thank these amazing men and women for all they do."

The event has served thousands of Airmen over the past 23 years. Free food and beverages were provided along with more than $4,000 worth of prizes that were raffled off to Air Commandos throughout the festivities.

"Cannon has an outstanding relationship with the local community," said Tom Udall, N.M. Senator. "They continue to grow closer like a family and support each other. I'll never forget when a retired Airman told me he'd served at bases around the world, but he'd never found a more supportive community to the Air Force than right here in Clovis."

"This event shows exactly what we should be doing for our Airmen," he said. "We should be out here congratulating them and thanking them for their service."
