After ending on May 4, the annual Air Force Assistance Fund campaign at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., surpassed their goal of $80,476 raising a total of $91,194. This is the first time since Cannon's conversion to a base under the Air Force Special Operations Command that the goal total for this campaign has been met and exceeded.

AFAF provides a route for Airmen and their families to help each other with donations towards worldwide emergency financial assistance, educations assistance, the Air Force Village and an array of base level community enhancement programs.

Among all those that donated, there were several outstanding unit highlights:
  • The 27th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron had the most funds raised at $9,358.
  • The 27th Special Operations Medical Group had the highest level of participation with 26 percent of their Airmen donating.
"Thank you to everyone that contributed to this year's AFAF campaign," said Capt. Andrew McLay, 20th Special Operations Squadron executive officer and AFAF project manager. "With your help, we raised 113 percent of the original goal. Cannon's Air Commandos have truly stepped up to the plate when it comes to helping out their fellow Airman!
