Cannon construction update: burying powerlines Published Feb. 7, 2012 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 27th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron is updating the electrical distribution network at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., by eliminating aboveground cables that are susceptible to damage from high winds. To properly bury these lines, contractors will conduct several road closures. The intersection at Sextant Avenue and Olympic Boulevard will be closed during the day on Feb. 8-9, while contractors trench and lay duct bank across the road. The roads will be re-opened at 4 p.m. for overnight traffic.
