Cannon back to school First Friday bash Aug. 5 Published Aug. 2, 2011 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- School is just around the corner! The 27th Special Operations Wing will host its monthly First Friday gathering at the Landing Zone, 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 5. This month the event will feature a "Back to School Bash," for kids and parents in preparation for the quickly approaching 2011-2012 school year. Representatives from Clovis Municipal Schools, Clovis Christian Schools and Portales Municipal Schools will attend to answer questions and distribute school calendars and supply lists. More than 25 people will be available to interact with kids and parents, including teachers, administrators, superintendents, principals and school board members. The event is co-hosted by the Landing Zone and the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The $4 kids menu includes choice of sandwich with chips, juice box and dessert. The adult menu, $5 for club members and $7 for non-members, includes grilled chicken, salad and a side dish. Kids attending will receive a free school lunch bag. First Friday is an informal, family-friendly event during which Airmen and their families can meet, mingle and dine at The Landing Zone. The base's west gate will not be open for this event.
