27 SOW Sports Day takes off May 27 Published April 28, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Jette Carr 27th Specail Operations Wing/ Public Affairs CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 27th Special Operations Wing Sports Day, May 27, is an opportunity for Cannon Airmen and their families to represent their squadrons in various sporting events such as softball, golf, bowling, volleyball, basketball and many others. "It is a base morale, welfare, and recreation event designed to foster camaraderie and spirited competition among base personnel and organizations," said Staff Sgt. Ashley Sellers, fitness specialist, 27th Special Operations Force Support Squadron. "We have sports day to enhance esprit de corps amongst all Cannon personnel and have a chance to have some fun outside of the work centers and get away from the day-to-day routine," she said. Sports day is open to base personnel and their spouses. There is a 1.5-mile bike/walk/stroller event that seeks to get military families involved. After the events are finished and squadron points tallied up, an awards ceremony will be held and Cannon Sports Day Champions will be announced.
