Cannon schedules Earth Day/Arbor Day activities

The 27th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron's Natural Resources Management Flight has sponsored an annual Earth Day/Arbor Day celebration since 1992 and earned Tree City USA status since 1998. The celebration is held each April with events to promote awareness that involve the base and local community.

This year's activities will include:
  • An Earth Day 5K Fun Run April 28 at 7 a.m. at Unity Park. A traveling plaque will be presented to squadron with the most participation, and prizes will be awarded to the top male/female finishers.
  • A Tree City USA Ceremony and tree planting April 28 at 10 a.m. at Green Zone Park. This will be the 13th consecutive year Cannon is designated as a Tree City USA community
  • Information booths and displays at the Base Exchange April 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Base personnel will receive information on recycling and other environmental programs, and promotional items made from recycled products will be handed out.
  • Story telling at the Clovis Carver Library April 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Base personnel will read to children about Earth Day followed by a craft session.
