Cannon AFB Pet Policy Published April 7, 2011 CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Air Force Guidance Memorandum (AFGM2) has set the following mandatory pet policy. Residents may not board dogs of any breed (including a mixed breed) that are deemed "aggressive or potentially aggressive". These dogs are defined as a Pit Bull (American Staffordshire Bull Terrier or English Staffordshire Bull Terrier), Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Chow, and wolf hybrids. Residents currently boarding pets prohibited by this policy may continue to board the pet until they terminate housing unless the pet demonstrates an aggressive behavior. Exotic animals such as reptiles, rodents (other than hamsters and guinea pigs), ferrets, hedgehogs, skunks, rats, raccoons, squirrels, pot bellied pigs, monkeys, arachnids, or any farm animals are not authorized in government housing. Only two dogs, cats or 1 of each, are permitted per household and shall wear a collar or harness with current rabies and distemper vaccination tags attached. Cats and dogs are required to be licensed within Clovis city limits. If you obtain a pet after moving into government housing, you are required to register your pets with the housing office within 72 hours.
