Red Cross offers Babysitter Boot Camp training March 27-28 Published March 22, 2010 By The American Red Cross CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The American Red Cross is offering Babysitter Boot Camp training to children, ages 11- 15, in military families. The Red Cross Babysitting class not only teaches how to provide how to provide safe care for a baby or child, but also how to prevent and respond to life threatening emergencies such as choking, burns, cuts and other injuries. Students will be certified in CPR and first aid. When: Sat. /Sun March 27 - 28 8:30AM - 3:30PM (FCC Building) Sat. /Sun. May 16-17, 2009 8:30AM - 3:30PM (Portales Community Center) Where: FCC located at 1022 State Road 311 Portales Community Center located at1500 South Ave K Children will learn how to: · Supervise children and infants · Identify safety hazards and prevent injuries · Care for common injuries and emergencies · Perform child-care skills such as diapering and feeding and dressing · Leadership, responsibility and decision making skills · Choose safe, age-appropriate games · Handle bedtime and discipline issues Course materials include: · Babysitters' Training Handbook: Full colored handbook with great information and resources. · Babysitters' Training Emergency Reference Guide: Provides step by step instructions to handle common emergencies such as asthma attacks, burns and cuts. · Babysitters' Training CD Rom: Includes Babysitters' organizer, Printable activity book with games, crafts, songs and recipes; a resume template; interactive skills to help you practice skills, and more. · Portfolio · Red Cross Babysitter t-shirt Fee: There is a $25.00 registration fee per person.
