Tops in Blue returned to the Greyhound Arena in Portales, March 6 and wowed audiences, yet again.

"It was like a breath of fresh air," said Senior Airman Jennifer Reid, 27th Special Operations Force Support Squadron.

During the two hours of music, dancing and fun, Tops in Blue performed pop, rap, R&B, country and Broadway songs for an audience from Clovis, Portales and Cannon.

According to its Web site, Tops in Blue is a traveling concert ensemble made up of active duty United States Air Force members. Each year, Airman submit packages for the services worldwide talent contest and wait for the call that declares them as the newest addition to the Tops In Blue team.

Just as Cannon receives a current Tops in Blue performer back to base, Senior Airman Marc Hightower, 27th Special Operations Component Maintenance Squadron, it bids farewell to Airman 1st Class Jette Warnick, 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs, who is set to join the next group of Tops in Blue performers.

When called by the commander, Col. Stephen Clark, 27th Special Operations Wing, Airman Warnick didn't know what to expect, said Airman Warnick.

"When Col. Clark told me I was the newest member in Tops in Blue, it felt amazing. I had waited for nearly three weeks and was part of the last group called. At that point I didn't expect to make it because I thought most of the vocals slots were filled", she said.
"I am hoping that this whole experience will help me to get over my fear of public speaking.

"With my job being Public Affairs, I can't really afford to be [nervous]," admitted Airman Warnick. "I am eager to come back a stronger and more confident person."

The March 6 performance closed with a rendition of "I'm Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood and marked the end of the Tops in Blue 2008 tour.
