27 SOMDG receives pathology accreditation

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  27th Special Operations Medical Group MDSS/SGAL Laboratory Services, Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists, based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.

During the accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. Inspectors also examine staff qualifications, the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management.

The CAP is the world's largest association of pathologists that began in the early 1960s and is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program.
