Commercial power restored to Cannon AFB Published Feb. 5, 2010 By Staff Sgt. Heather R. Redman 27th Special Operations Public Affairs 2/5/2010 -- CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M.--The main substation is repaired and commercial power has been restored. The Civil Engineering (CE) squadron will continue to monitor infrastructure and facilities to ensure everything is operating properly. If your facility has any problem related to the transfer to commercial power, please contact CE customer service at 784-2001. Some regularly scheduled community services will resume tonight including the Shoppette (until 11 pm), Bowling Center (until midnight), Airman's Center (until midnight) and Fitness center (until 11 pm) For official communication/computer problems following transfer, call the Communications Focal Point at 784-2666 (calls will be automatically transferred to AFSOC help desk Monday-Friday from 1700-0700, as well as 24 hours on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays). Base community services will resume their normal operating hours beginning Saturday, 6 Feb. This includes the dining facility, fitness center, club, community center, golf course, bowling center, other MWR facilities as well as Exchange and Commissary facilities. Log on to http://www.cannon.af.mil/ for a reference of activity hours of operation. The Mother and Son Ball at the Landing will occur as scheduled on 6 Feb at 1700. Medical operations will resume normal duty hours beginning 8 Feb. The Air Force Claims Service Center (AFCSC) is standing by to accept claims for damage/loss as a result of power loss on 4 - 5 Feb. Claimants should visit the AFCSC site https://claims.jag.af.mil/ and follow the links that indicate "natural disaster claims." When asked to name the "source of incident" type in "electrical power outage" on Cannon AFB from 4 Feb to 5 Feb 2010." The AFCSC is aware of the situation and can be contacted at 1-877-754-1212 to help with any questions or concerns with filing a claim. If further assistance is needed, please contact the 27 SOW/JA at (575)784-2211 Monday-Friday 0800-1600. Some shops on the flight line side of base may experience power bumps over the next 60 minutes. If this occurs beyond the next hour, please contact Cannon Command Post at X-2253.
