Employment class to explain hiring rule changes Published Aug. 19, 2009 CANNNON AIR FORCE BASE -- To answer questions about the new hiring procedures, representatives from Civilian Personnel will be on hand to train and answer question at an "Understanding Federal Employment" class" Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. at the Airmen and Family Readiness Center. Under a personnel rule that takes effect Sept. 11 some military spouses could be quickly be hired for federal jobs without going through the usual competitive process. Although applicants must still meet specific job-qualification criteria, the intent of the rule rule, according to documents listed in the Federal Register, "is to facilitate the entry of military spouses into the federal civil service as part of an effort to recruit and retain skilled and experienced members of the armed forces and to recognize and honor the service of members injured, disabled, or killed in connection with their service." For more information on the class, call Ellen Saccoia-Smith at 784-4228.
