Taking small steps to make a good impression essential during the UCI Published June 11, 2009 By 27th Special Operation Wing Public Affairs staff report CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 27th Special Operations Wing Inspector General's office reminds Cannon Airmen that making a good impression on the inspection team during the June 15-26 Unit Compliance Inspection doesn't just take place at their work centers. "Although the Air Force Special Operations Inspector General team does not have a gradable section of a checklist to score infractions of Air Force Instructions related to customs and courtesies, violations in these areas matter and affect the team's overall impression of the base," said Maj. Mark Sudduth, 27 SOW/IG. Below are some general guidelines to keep in mind: 1. Render proper salute to passing staff cars 2. Pay proper respects to National Anthem while it plays at 4:30 p.m 3. Refrain from smoking in areas that are not approved smoking area 4. Avoid drinking a beverage, eating, smoking, or talking on a hands-free cell phone device while walking 5. Maintain proper hygiene and keep hair within Air Force Instruction 36-2903 guidelines at all times 9. Ensure uniform is clean and serviceable 10. Avoid using profanity in the workplace "These are just a few things mentioned in AFI 36-2903 that we should already be following," said Major Sudduth. "However, we just want to point out that everything we do during an inspection affects the inspectors' impressions of us. Let's represent the Air Force and AFSOC proudly during this UCI."
