Air Commando falls victim to vehicle accident

An Airman assigned to the 27th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron here died in a vehicle rollover accident near Weatherford, Okla., April 23 at approximately 4 p.m. Central Standard Time. 

Airman 1st Class Andrew Arnett, 19, and his 18-year-old passenger Christy Thatcher, of Farwell, Texas, died as a result of the accident on Interstate 40 just east of Weatherford. 

Airman Arnett was an avionics systems apprentice in the 73rd Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Unit, a part of the 27 SOAMXS that maintains the communication and navigation equipment on MC-130W Combat Spear aircraft. 

A native of Haleyville, Ala., Airman Arnett completed Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, in July 2007. 

A memorial service is scheduled at the Cannon Chapel May 6 at 2 p.m. Flowers for the service may be delivered to the chapel beginning in the afternoon of May 5 addressed to: Cannon Chapel 104 W. Trident Ave, Cannon AFB, NM, 88103.
