Press release -- CANNON HOSTS 'FIRST FRIDAY' THIS WEEK Published April 1, 2009 By 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs Office CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Cannon will host its monthly First Friday event at The Landing this Friday, April 3, from 5-8 p.m. First Friday is an informal, family-friendly event for where individuals from on and off base can meet, mingle and dine at The Landing. During the event, both military members and local residents will have the opportunity to pose questions to the commander on virtually any subject and for military members to pose questions to the community. "I envision First Friday as a place where the Clovis and Portales communities, military members, and their spouses and children will get to know one another," said Colonel Timothy Leahy, 27th Special Operations Wing commander. "I also want it to be an informal town hall meeting where I will always give you a straight answer." First Friday takes place on the first Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m. Members of the public with access to the base are encouraged to attend through the main gate or Portales gate. Unlike previous First Fridays, the base's west gate will not be open for public parking. For more information about the event or to make a reservation, please contact The Landing at (575) 784-2853. Media wishing to attend should call the Cannon Public Affairs office at (575) 784-4131 no later than 4:30 p.m. the day of the event.
