Media Advisory: CANNON INVITES MEDIA TO CRISIS RESPONSE EXERCISE

Cannon invites interested news media to a natural disaster-response exercise during one day of the week of Feb. 23-27.

The base is required to perform emergency-management type exercises at least once a quarter. To encourage more realistic scenarios, the base Inspector General's office provides the base with the week the exercise will be held, not the exact days. Exercise Evaluation Team members plan the exercise about a month in advance and offer "exercise input" suggestions. The goal of the exercises is to test base units' readiness when responding to specific crisis scenarios.

During the exercise, the public may also hear alarms and sirens coming from the base.

News media wishing to attend the exercise should call the 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs office at (575) 784-4131 no later than 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 20.
