Make a difference - volunteer

Lighthouse Mission
Volunteers are needed to help feed the homeless at the Lighthouse Mission Dec. 27. The group will meet at the Professional Enhancement Center (above the End Zone) at 11 a.m. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Charles Jenkins or Master Sgt. Darrell Harris at 784-2961 or 784-7041. 

Fraternal Order of Eagles shopping spree for needy childrenThe Fraternal Order of Eagles are looking for 30 to 40 volunteers Dec. 21 at 5:30 a.m. to help underprivileged children shop for Christmas. The group will meet in the back of the Clovis Wal-mart (near Subway.) A free breakfast will be provided at the Fraternal Order of Eagles directly after the event. To register for the event, please call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 784-4288. 

Base Chapel
The Base Chapel needs volunteers every Wednesday night from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Volunteers are needed to clean-up, wash dishes, sweep floors, stack chairs and put away folding tables. If you would like to participate, please contact the Chapel at 784-2507.

Enrichment Program
Barry Elementary Enrichment Program needs volunteers to tutor students in the afternoon. The program is offered from noon to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is also offered from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Fridays. They will be starting the program again Jan. 12. For more information, contact Sharon White at 799-5522.

Code Blue Unit - Citizens on Patrol
Volunteer opportunities are available with Code Blue. This program provides training by the Clovis Police Department to detect and effectively report crimes in progress. Trained members patrol in pairs, operate base stations and participate in the ride-along program with Clovis police officers. To get involved, contact Officer Muller at the Clovis Police Department Community Relations office at 763-9427.

Volunteer of the Quarter
Nominations for volunteer of the quarter are being sought for the fourth quarter, October - December 2008. The format for nominations is via AF 1206 V5 (front page only) and 13 lines of information is required. Please include all volunteer outreach performed during the designated time frame. 

Nomination packages must be received by the Airman & Family Readiness Center staff by Jan. 5. You can drop them off or e-mail them to ellen.saccoia-smith@cannon.af.mil or jennifer.johnson@cannon.af.mil. For more information, please call the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 784-4228.

Volunteer of the Year
We invite each squadron or volunteer agency/organization to nominate their most deserving volunteers to be considered for Volunteer of the Year, 2008. Each nominee must have contributed 120 hours during the calendar year to be eligible. 

Please include all volunteer contributions both on and off base. Nominations must be submitted on AF IMT 1206 (front page only) and should describe accomplishments/contributions of volunteer using bullet statements. Please use the latest version of the 1206 form (it should show V5 on the bottom left hand corner). The number of hours completed must also be included.
