Community salutes veterans with parades, open houses and free dinners

The following Veterans Day activities will be held in the area through Nov. 17:

Nov. 3 - Open House at the VFW Post 3280, 200 West Grand Ave., Clovis, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Nov. 4 - Open House at the VFW Post 3015, 3815 W. 7th Ave, Clovis, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Nov. 5 - Open House at the American Legion, Post 117, 2400 W. 7th Ave, Clovis, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Nov. 6 - Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Elks Lodge, 1244 W. 7th Ave, Clovis, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Nov. 7 - Open House at the DAV #6, 220 W. 4th Ave., Clovis, from 9 to 10 a.m.
            - Open House at the AMVETS, Post 14, 2003 W. 7th Ave., Clovis, from 6 to 8 p.m. 
            - Marine Corps Ball at the VFW, Post 3280, beginning at 6 p.m.
Nov. 8 - American Legion Post 117, Veterans Day Breakfast  from 7 to 11 a.m.
            - Veterans Day Parade, 14th Ave and Main St., Clovis, begins at 10 a.m.
            - Awards presentations at VFW Post 3280 begins a 12 p.m.
            - Military Appreciation Dinner at Faith Christian Family Church, 3401 Norris, beginning at 6 p.m. Free for all military, past and present. Col. Timothy Leahy, 27th Special Operations Wing commander, will be the guest speaker. 
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day Ceremony at the Portales Memorial, 200 E, 7th St., begins at 10:30 a.m. Col. James Cardosa, 27th Special Operations Group commander, will be the guest speaker.
Nov. 17 - Military Appreciation Dinner at the Golden Corral, 3501 N. Prince, 5-9 p.m.
