AFSOC Lance P. Sijan award winners announced

Congratulations to 27th Special Operations Wing commandos selected to represent Air Force Special Operations Command at the Air Force level for the Lance P. Sijan award.

Master Sgt. Daniel Bouchee, 3rd Special Operations Squadron, will represent AFSOC in the senior enlisted category. 

Tech. Sgt. Anthony A. Horde, 27th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron, was selected to represent the command in the junior enlisted category. 

Also selected to represent AFSOC in their respective categories are:

Senior officer - Maj. James Hughes Jr., 24th Special Tactics Squadron, Pope AFB, N.C.
Junior officer - Capt. Mark Gray, Directorate of Logistics, Hurlburt Field, Fla. 

The Lance P. Sijan award recognizes the accomplishments of officers and enlisted Airmen who  demonstrate the highest qualities of leadership in the performance of their duties and the conduct of their lives. It was created in 1981 and named after Capt. Lance P. Sijan, who died while a prisoner of war in Vietnam. Before capture, the Air Force Academy graduate and posthumous Medal of Honor recipient evaded the North Vietnamese for six weeks after being shot down in Nov. 1967.
