Ever heard of a Privatized Housing Resident Advocate? If not, it is probably because the position is a fairly new one implemented by the Department of Defense with one goal in mind – significantly improve the housing customer service experience for its military residents.

Within a year timeframe, the Air Force aims to introduce sixty new Resident Advocates across numerous installations with Cannon being one of them. In fact, an RA has been here since the end of summer.

After serving as the housing manager for Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Mr. Oscar Ramos arrived at Cannon in August to become the 27th Special Operations Wing’s Privatized Housing Resident Advocate.

“I am a partner and point of contact to assist military members and their families residing in privatized housing who seek solutions to unresolved problems, concerns and needs,” Ramon explained. “You can think of me as a consultant regarding landlord and tenant rights as contained in laws, privatized agreements, and DoD and AF regulations.”

When disputes can’t be resolved at the Military Housing Office level, anyone that has a stake in privatized housing may utilize Ramos as a resource.

“I hope to contribute in sustaining a vibrant, customer centric community where all stakeholders needs are addressed, and guaranteed a voice,” Ramos said. “Community partnership requires participation and communication. I encourage everyone to get involved in our Cannon community, and provide me with comments, concerns or any feedback.”

If you have any questions or concerns regarding privatized housing, please reach out to Mr. Ramos at 575-904-4058 or email oscar.ramos.6@us.af.mil.
