27 SOMXG Holds 2021 Annual Load Crew of the Year Competition

The 27th Special Operations Maintenance Group held their 2021 Annual Load Crew of the Year competition at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, March 4, 2022. The event featured a weapons load crew from the 16th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 27th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron loading munitions onto a AC-130W Stinger II gunship aircraft and a crew from the 12th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, 727th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron loading munitions onto a MQ-9 Reaper II remotely piloted aircraft. The two crews went head to head to see who could load munitions with the most speed, technical proficiency and attention to safety precautions. The event also featured a jammer jamboree where contestants from around Cannon competed to see who could drive a weapons jammer through an obstacle course the fastest. The results of the competition and the Load Crew of the Year will be announced at the 27 SOMXG 2021 Maintenance Professionals of the Year ceremony.(U.S. Air Force photos by Staff Sgt. Maxwell J.
