Col. Tony D. Bauernfeind, 27th Special Operations Wing commander, performed an operations check on one of the newest assets here Aug. 5.

The 60K Loader, also known as the Tunner, was recently acquired by the 27th Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron and will be utilized by the wing to augment mobility of Air Commandos.

Typically an Air Mobility Command resource, the loader is routinely used for military and civilian aircraft. A primary purpose of the 60K at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, will be to appropriately load palletized cargo.

Valued at roughly $1.8 million, this piece of machinery will speed up all palletized loads for the 27 SOLRS at nearly twice the capacity; effectively saving the wing 50 percent in man hours and dollars.
