2013 Water Quality Report released Published June 20, 2014 By Public Affairs staff 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 2013 Water Quality Report from Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico has been released and is now available on the base website. Under the "Consumer Confidence Reporting Rule" of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act, community water systems must issue water quality information to the consuming public. The report outlines specifics pertaining to the origin of water, substances that may be present, and health risks water testing and treatment are designed to prevent. As required by regulations, results published this year are constructed from samples collected and analyzed the previous year. Cannon utilizes groundwater from the Ogallala Aquifer. To ensure water is potable, it is tested regularly and disinfected with chlorine. The report stated that in 2013, the water that Cannon provided to the installation met or surpassed all federal and state primary drinking water regulations.
