Cannon Library hosts Tech Fair

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  With computers, processors and gadgets galore, Airmen at Cannon Air Force Base N.M., had the chance to attend a Technology Fair at the Cannon Library, March 11-13.

Ray Peters, 27th Special Operations Force Support Squadron technical information specialist, used the fair to show attendees how, through a little imagination and gleaned know-how, they can use their limited resources to make personalized devices for themselves.

A professional motorcyclist for 15 years, Peters came into the information technology world in 2001 and has since been teaching himself skills that he is more than happy to share with others.

"I have a desire to understand whatever I'm involved with," Peters said. "I like being able to share my knowledge."

True to his word, Peters held demonstrations at the Cannon Library throughout the week. These demonstrations included how to build and operate a 3-D printer as well as how to build a personal computer system.

"I want to show people how to get the best out of what they have," Peters said about his demonstrations.

When asked how they felt about the information Peters presented to them, participants said they were fascinated.

"I've never seen something like this," said Tonya Simmons 27 SOFSS library aid. "He gave us a real hands-on experience."
