In the wake of Tropical Storm Karen, Air crews from Hurlburt Field, Fla., arrived here Oct. 3 in an effort to protect government assets.

Though Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., may seem to be a farther distance for relocating assets, this growing base allowed our Hurlburt Air Commandos to continue critical training operations at Melrose Air Force Range. The range was able to accommodate the various types of aircraft the 1st Special Operations Wing brought for their visit.

While there was not an increase in flying operations, you may have seen some new birds in the sky such as the AC-130U, C-130P, and U-28. The crews were hosted by Cannon service members until they were able to return home.

Mission readiness is the Air Commando way and priority, anytime, anyplace.
