A casualty evacuation exercise was conducted Aug. 16 at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.

A two-part scenario, the exercise included a main incident and secondary incident. The exercise consisted of a patient at the 27th Special Operations Medical Group becoming disgruntled and having to be subdued. A simulated fire was then set and the fire department responded, evacuated personnel from the building, and neutralized the fire threat. The 27 SOMDG then moved their base of operations to an alternate location. In addition, a casualty evacuation was called in and medical teams responded, providing a simulated MEDEVAC flight to a different facility.

"The exercise was designed to test the 27 SOMDG on their ability to pick up and move their base of operations to an alternate location," said Tech. Sgt. Scott Douglas, 27th Special Operations Wing Inspector General Office inspection team manager. "It went very well considering the short amount of time we had to plan and execute it. Overall I was very pleased."

These events gave the Cannon Fire Department, emergency medical personnel and Security Forces personnel a chance to practice and fine-tune their skills in emergency response to an on base occurrence.
