Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. -- Members of the 27th Special Operations Wing are invited to attend Cannon Appreciation Day in Portales New Mexico, sponsored by the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., September 13.
The event will offer free food, games, prizes and a live music performance by the Blackwater Band at the Alta Terra housing community.
“Portales’ Cannon Appreciation day is one of the most fun events put on by our folks, said Karl Terry, Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce executive director. “It’s a relaxing event for our men, women and families who sacrifice so much for us. Tomorrow will offer an opportunity to visit with your Portales neighbors - it’s what we are all about.”
The event will feature children’s games, face painting, and bouncing castles. As for the adults, Terry announced a grand prize trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, is in store for some lucky winner.
“Latest weather reports indicate that we should be clear of any adverse weather, so we are very confident the event will go as planned,” said Terry. “However, if the weather affects us, please join us at our alternate location in the Yam Theater. We are really looking forward to having everyone come out.”
