CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 27th Special Operations Wing Voting Assistance Program ensures all wing personnel, dependents, civilian contractors and age appropriate voting individuals are aware of how to register to vote in national, state and local elections.
“As Air Commandos, we are doing everything we can to assist our personnel and their families with their questions, and to provide pertinent information to help them make informed decisions,” said Capt. Richard Nares, 27 SOW assistant to director of staff and installation voting assistance officer. “Every vote counts and we have an opportunity to directly affect who our next leaders will be; we fight daily for our freedom and right to vote."
At Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, each unit is responsible for assisting airmen and their families in establishing voting eligibility. If an Air Commando is able to register, their group can assist them during the application process.
"The 2014 General Elections will be Nov. 4, and state registration deadlines are fast approaching,” Nares continued. “The installation voting assistance office and voting assistance officers from each unit on base are available to assist anybody with questions regarding absentee registration. Please be sure to contact your Unit Voting Officer for more information."
