CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Balfour Beatty Communities hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the first move-ins of the highly anticipated housing project Oct. 16, 2014 at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico.
“We are here today to honor the men and women who protect and serve us,” said William Wood, BBC housing project manager. “When I look at these homes and think of the families that will live in them, I’m extremely honored and proud to be able to give back to our military in this manner.”
“We want to thank all of our military members for their service and personally see this effort as a privilege to serve them through constructing this housing community,” he continued.
With members of Team Cannon and the local community looking on, Staff Sgt. Cleon Windley, 27th Special Operations Support Squadron host aviation resource manager, and his family cut the ribbon which symbolized the beginning of this next chapter in their lives. As they were handed the keys to their new home, the Windley family was all smiles.
“My family and I feel very blessed,” said Windley. “We are so appreciative of all that Balfour Beatty has done and we couldn’t be more excited to move in.”
Cannon’s BBC affiliates guided the excited family on a tour throughout the home and made sure they were made aware of all of the exciting new features the housing project has to offer, but not before final words from wing leadership.
“Today, we celebrate another tremendous milestone in the wing’s continued strive toward excellence,” stated Col. Matt Smith, 27th Special Operations Wing vice commander. “Today highlights the Air Force’s commitment to create environments for airmen and their families to thrive – that’s what these houses will provide.”
“The quality of this community matches the quality of excellence our Air Commandos deliver on the battlefield each and every day,” he continued. “We thank our teammates at Balfour Beatty for their continued partnership and commitment to making Cannon Air Force Base a premier Air Force installation.”
