CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the Cannon Medical Clinic replacement project is scheduled May 26 here.
The program will start at 3 p.m. and will take place outside on the site of the new building, which is just west of the existing clinic. The ceremony is scheduled to last approximately 30 minutes.
The agenda will include a short address from Col. Jeffrey Gillen, 27th Special Operations Medical Group commander. The event will conclude with a ceremonial groundbreaking, which will signify the start of the $53 million construction project.
Following the ceremonial groundbreaking event, refreshments will be served inside the existing clinic. The new Cannon Medical Clinic is striving for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver Certification and construction will be completed in 2018.
Construction of the new 112,000 sq. foot, two-story replacement medical/dental clinic at Cannon AFB will begin in July of this year. When complete, the clinic will provide a healing environment to facilitate communication between caregivers, patients, and family.
