The 27th Special Operations Group welcomed its next commander, Col. Justin Hoffman on July 2.

Members of various squadrons witnessed Hoffman assume command during a ceremony held on base.

As the commander of the 27th SOG, Hoffman oversees 10 squadrons, all with the mission of accomplishing global special operations taskings as an Air Force component member of the United States Special Operations Command. The 27th SOG conducts infiltration, exfiltration, combat support, tilt-rotor operations, helicopter aerial refueling, close air support, unmanned aerial vehicle operations, nonstandard aviation and other special missions.

Before receiving his first solute as group commander from members of the 27th SOG, Hoffman formally addressed the diverse squadrons.

“You have established yourselves as the best of the best and the most capable guardians of the finest Air Commando traditions,” Hoffman stated. “You are recognized for your courage, creativity and confidence across the joint Special Operations Forces community. I am humbled, honored and most importantly excited to serve alongside you as we execute air power with lethality and precision — anytime, anyplace.”
