27th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron

Mission
Executes global Special Operations taskings as an Air Force component of member of USSOCOM. Maintains AC-130H, AC-130W and MC-130J aircraft, personnel and equipment to support precision aerospace fires and close air support, overt and covert infiltration, resupply and infiltration and intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance missions. Organizes, trains and equips 700 personnel.

Lineage 
Constituted as the 27th Periodic Maintenance Squadron on  June 4, 1952. Activated on June 16, 1952. Inactivated on Sept. 25, 1957. Redesignated as the 27th Organizational Maintenance Squadron, and activated on Sept. 20, 1962. Organized on Oct1, 1962. Discontinued and inactivated  on  Nov. 1, 1966. Activated on  Dec. 15, 1971. Redesignated as the 27th Aircraft Generation Squadron on April 1, 1978. Inactivated on  Nov. 1, 1991. Redesignated as the 27th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on June 28, 2002. Activated on  Sept. 27, 2002. Redesignated as the 27th Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on Oct. 1, 2007.

The 27th Special Operations Wing and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center hosted a virtual public meeting to provide updates to its on-going actions to address Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), identified at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico.

This is the third meeting of a planned series of quarterly meetings focused on the Air Force’s response to PFAS. AFCEC’s environmental experts will be available to answer questions regarding these efforts. The Air Force welcomes and encourages public participation and involvement.
