27th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron

The 27th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron Accomplishes global special operations tasking as a U.S. Air Force component member of U.S. Special Operations Command. Much of the 27 SOCES' work is focused on the design, construction, maintenance, and protection of all base infrastructure, which includes buildings, roadways, airfield pavements, utility services (such as water, gas, sewage treatment and electricity) and the surrounding environment. 

The 27th SOCES also provide complete services for fire protection, explosive ordnance disposal, disaster preparedness, war readiness support, military family housing, and various other base-wide needs such as custodial cleaning and refuse disposal.

The total base infrastructure inventory includes 1,012 buildings valued at $2.6 billion; a 450,000 gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant; and 1,581 military family housing units. The Cannon infrastructure is located on more than 64,553 acres, and an additional 6,000 acres at Melrose Air Force Range.

The 27th SOCES provides fire protection, emergency preparedness, explosive ordnance disposal, engineering, and asset management services for 5,100 personnel, organized into 4 groups, 23 squadrons and 16 staff agencies.

The 27th Special Operations Wing and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center hosted a virtual public meeting to provide updates to its on-going actions to address Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), identified at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico.

This is the third meeting of a planned series of quarterly meetings focused on the Air Force’s response to PFAS. AFCEC’s environmental experts will be available to answer questions regarding these efforts. The Air Force welcomes and encourages public participation and involvement.
