Balfour Beatty Communities representatives held a ceremony, relinquishing keys to the final freshly-renovated home, to Cannon Air Force Base Air Commandos July 17, 2018, at Chavez West base housing on Cannon AFB.

The multinational infrastructure group dedicated the last four years to developing the base’s housing area with new homes and renovations. This event marked the finalization of that project.

“This was the final home turnover to a resident for 359 renovations that we did on Chavez West,” said Bill Wood, Balfour Beatty Communities project director. “We put in new siding, new windows, new flooring, new fans inside the homes, and new microwaves.”

The renovations were part of an agreement between Balfour Beatty and the Air Force to focus on providing Airmen with better homes and amenities on base, improving overall morale and well-being.

“We’ve built 679 new homes and spent close to $170 million here at Cannon Air Force Base, between new homes and renovations,” Wood said. “We’re making sure we have good properties for our Air Force families to live in; nice homes to come back to.”

Though the ceremony was intended for welcoming a family into their new home, this also celebrated the accomplishment of the relationship built between Balfour Beatty and the Air Force.

“We’re actually partners in this; it’s a real estate transaction, and we couldn’t be happier with the partnership with the Air Force,” Wood said. “All we can say is that we’re so grateful to the Air Force for their partnership.”
